For that kind of money you should be able to buy an 8.5 S rearend with limited slip and maybe disc .The 7.5 / 7.6 will not hold up under prolong pounding from a strong V8. Adding more power is very simple. However, if the Allison can only handle another 80-90 hp without damage. A 4L80E would probably self destruct in short order with another 90 hp and additional torque. I think it's the added torque that would kill it.
